Particularities

Pomegranates belong to the Lythraceae family and primarily grow in the Middle East. This wonderful fruitcontains many little, red seeds that are gently cold-pressed to produce pomegranate seed oil. 100 kg ofpomegranates only yield around 500 grams of pomegranate seed oil, making it a rarity among vegetable oils.On top of that, the oil contains a very high amount of a rare polyunsaturated fatty acid: punicic acid. Thepomegranate seed oil cake, a by-product of the pressing process, is processed into pomegranate seed flour.
