Smoothies! Be the morning person you’ve always wanted to be.

22. January 2016

We’ve all been there. It’s almost 7AM, the family is gathered around the breakfast table, but somehow, nobody really wants their cereal and sandwiches. Everyone's just a bit grumpy. Unless you’ve got a fresh smoothie ready! With a blender, preparing them is no work at all, and they offer enough energy to get you and your loved ones through their morning, be it at school, kindergarten, or in the office. That’s a lot of benefits – and they’re damn tasty to boot. Give them a chance in your family. You can make a smoothie from whatever kind of fruit and vegetable you have in the fridge. Of course, it is important that your ingredients are of a high quality. Fresh, ripened, high-quality products are ideal – if they’re organic, that’s even better. Vary the flavours to keep it exciting. In winter, local fruit and vegetables are just as suitable as tropical varieties. Smoothies take no time to prepare, and they’ll make a morning person out of anyone. Here’s our own favourite smoothie:
  • 3 peeled oranges
  • 4 halved, cored apples
  • 2 halved pears
  • 2 ripe mangos, peeled and cored
  • 1-2 peeled bananas
  • 1 peeled pineapple, stalk removed
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 2 carrots
  • ½ beet, peeled
  • 1 small piece of ginger
Simply put everything in the blender and press the button. If you like, add some chia seeds to increase the content of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in your smoothie. The seeds need to swell in water while the fruit and vegetables are being prepared. Once the smoothie is done, just add the mixture of chia seeds and water, stir everything briefly and your vitamin boost is ready. Always prepare and enjoy your smoothies fresh: many vitamins and minerals are lost very quickly. Depending on your preferences, you can make a fruitier or more savoury smoothie. A green smoothie made from leafy vegetables contains a lot of amino acids. Just keep experimenting until you've found your favourite. Instead of whole nut, you can add gourmet oils such as walnut oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, chia seed oil, or pumpkin seed oil to give your creation a well-rounded flavour. The internet is a source of countless recipes, and power drinks are in vogue right now!
